Won Auction 落札しちゃった！

Have you thought about buying a car on eBay? Well, I never thought I would ever do that but then I did.
I was looking for a new used car. I didn't want to buy brand new one because cars are over rated and depreciate way too fast so I wanted to have a good used car.
Carlton hates shopping and I didn't want to go out there by myself. So I decide to look into online shopping like Craig's list and Autotrader first and see. I saw some good cars and decided to email them. But my offers were apparently way too low and nobody responded back! Then I found a really good deal, call the dealer and went to check it out. It turns out that the dealer doesn't even have the car they listed! They just want to have walk-in traffic. What a scum!
But then they recommended to go Gwinnett Place Honda across the street. This visit turned out be an interesting experiences.
Buying a used car is just like a buying a house. You give them an offer and they counter offer until both agree on a price. So we did that and agreed on a price. But then they wanted to increase $100 more because they said the poor sales man isn't getting paid due to our agreed price way too low! At this point, Carlton simply walked out. Really, why would they try to increase on price after agreeing on one price? We were offended.
Anyhow, they called us many times after that. Then they said they would give us the original price back again. So we agreed. But then before we went to pick it up, they sold it to some other guy! What a waste of time!
At this point, we were exhausted.
Then this new car listing came up on Craig's list. Carlton called them but no response back. He suspected it's because the owner is a lady and does not want to talk to a man so I should call her. So I did. I don't know how she knew my call was a woman but she answered my phone call. She told me it's on eBay auction right now and if you want it, place bids.
I said no thanks! I don't buy cars on eBay.
But then we investigated car's vin number for its history and read description, it sounded really good deal.
So Carlton decided to bid and we won!!! Yay! We were finally buying a car!
As we drove to get the car, we got really nervous. Are we really committed to this car that we didn't even know if it drove? Can we test drive before we give them a check? What if they said, you won so you must take the car and it turns out to be a lemon?!
What were we thinking?
Are we crazy buying a car on eBay??
We really felt bad and we thought we made a terrible mistake.
Well, it turned out be OK. The owner of car was a super nice guy. Let us drove the car by ourselves, told us everything about the car and good tips. The car drove so great as its description and we just fell in love with it!
Yep, buying a car was up and down experiences but we are very happy with it at end.
オンラインオークションで、車を買った事ある？ 買うつもり無かったけど、買っちゃた！
最近、車の調子が悪くて、車を探していたんです。車って、値段が落ちるのが早いし、社会的な地位を見せびらかせたいような、気がするので、安くて良い中古を買おうと思っていたんです。
でも、カールトンは、大のショッピング嫌い。私も、一人で車を買いに行くには、ちょっと、心細くて、まず、インターネットで検索。結構、いい車が、あったので、その広告に私の払いたい値段をいれて、送ったんだけど、私の値段が低すぎなのか、全く返答なし！
そんな中に、良さそうな車の広告がでてきてて、そのディーラーに行ってみました。なんと、その車は、とっくの昔に売れていて、ただたん、お客を呼ぶだけ作戦広告だったみたい。幻滅。でも、そこのディーラーの勧めで、隣にあるホンダディーラーへ。
中古の車を買うのって、家を買う交渉に、似てますね〜。自分の値段を、言って、相手から値引いた値段を交渉しながら、最後の値段に持って行って、サインする。何時間か、交渉して、なんと最後の値段まで、到達して、サインをしたら、なんと、そこのマネージャーが、こんなに低い値段だと、セールスマンに報酬ができないから、１００ドルを足してほしいっと、言ってくる。交渉を終えたと思ったら、これだ！ 頭に来て、そのまま、家に帰っちゃいました。
その後、数日間、そこのセールマンから、ばんばん電話がかかってくる。っで、結局、交渉した値段で、買ってほしいとの事。それだったまあ、良いかと、思って、車を取りに行こうとすると、その日にすでに、他の人に売れちゃいました、だって。
この時点で、もう、ぐったり。
そうしていると、また、新しい広告が、出て来た。カールトンが電話をしても、電話がかかってこない。女の人っぽいので、私が、電話してみたらどうって、言われて、電話すると、その女の人が、電話に出てくれるじゃない！ 偶然なんだろうけどね。 話してみると、その車は、今、インターネットオークションに出していて、１時間後にオークションが終わるとの事。
インターネットオークション？ だめだめ。
でも、車の状況や、車の歴史を見てみると結構良い車みたい。
っで、入札したら、落札しちゃった！
車をとりに行く準備をしながら、どんどん、不安に。もし、車が動かなかったら？ 車の状況が悪かったら？ お金を渡す前に、テスト運転させてくれなかったら？ どーーーしよう！
結局、売り主は、むちゃくちゃいい人で、テスト運転も全くオッケー。車の説明や情報を沢山くれて、車も新車のよう。完璧に気に入っちゃって、買っちゃいました。
まあ、いろいろあったけど、良い勉強になりました。

Movie Review: Hula Girls

High Museum is currently running Japanese films and we went to see Hula Girls this Saturday. It was really good movie.
Carlton always says Japanese movies are 30 minutes too long but this movie, he simply said he enjoyed it. Yep, this movie has Carlton's approval!

中日ドラゴンズ、川上 憲伸（かわかみ けんしん）投手が、ブレーブズに来るそうです！
Wikiを読んでみると、なんと、谷繁君（実家の知り合いでプロ選手）の同僚と書いてあるではないか。 なんだか、親近感がありますね〜。 今年は、プレーブズを見に行くのが、楽しみです！

I am so excited about Braves' first Japanese player, Shinken Kawakami.
I was reading Japanese Wiki about him and it turned out that he was a team mate with my family's friend who is also a baseball player. (Japanese professional team, Chunichi Dragons) That is really cool.
Anyhow, I am looking forward to see him play this season!

アメフトファン？ Football fan?

今日は、感謝祭の週末です。 今週は、アメフト試合が沢山あり、アメリカでは、有名です。
っで、今日のこの一つの試合は、特にジョージア州で、最も見られている、思う。 だって、ジョージアテック 対 同州立大学UGA。
南部では、プロより、大学の方が、人気だし、同じ州の大学同士なので、テンションがかなり大きいみたいです。
普通、うちでは、スポーツに興味がないので、見ないのですが、たまたま、ゲームがある事を、知ったので、見てみました。
なんと、うちの勇気ちゃん、アメフトファンみたい！
手で、選手を追いかけるているんです。（笑）
We don't usually watch sports game on TV but we happened to find out that today's game was very special - UGA vs. Tech. So we decided to watch the game.
Well, guess who got soooo excited?
Our cat, Yuki.
Not sure who he was rooting for but he loved chasing players with his hand!

中国の昔話なのですが、とても面白い本です。昔と言ってもそんなに、昔では、ないのですが。時代が変わっても、国が違っても、人生や、人の喜びや悲しみって、変わらないもんなんだな〜！
ぜひ、読んでください。
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
Carlton's sister recommended this book and actually the book we have here is hers. Anyhow, it's a wonderful Chinese old story. It's amazing how our way of life and feeling does not change even if we live in now or long time ago, or even if we live in America or China, or even if we are young or old.
I recommend it, too!

ハイキング：ワーウーマンデル Hike: War Woman Dell

ジョージアの北部アパラチア山脈が、はじまる場所にあるキャビンへ、今週末行ってきました。 紅葉８０％ぐらいでしょうか、ちょっと緑がある。
天気は最高。
ワーウーマンデルへハイキングへ。前回、とんでもない犬がいた場所で、今回は、なんと、ボーイスカウトの集団が出てくる、でてくる。それも、カブスカウトと言う連中で、幼稚園から、小学校の低学年ぐらいでしょうか、小さい男の子が、うじゃうじゃ。それも、よくしゃべる。
頂上まで片道１．５マイル(2.4km)。 頂上には、大きな石崖があります。
ボーイスカウトの集団から、離れるのに苦労しましたが、頂点についたら、今度は、なんと、何十万ものテントウ虫が！ 体に引っ付いてくるんです！
逃げました。
そうです、またまた、逃げました。
We went to the cabin in Clayton, North GA this weekend. Foliage was about 80% of peak color.
The weather was beautiful.
So we went to hike to War Woman Dell where last time we met the crazy dog. This time was bunch of little Cub Scouts. We were just shocked how much these boys can talk.
Anyhow, the top of mountain is the Big Rock. It's a little cliff on one side of the mountain. That is where everyone was heading to.
It took a lots of effort to get away from Cub Scouts group but we finally did when we got to the top. But then there were millions of lady bugs waiting for us!
Yes, we run away as fast as possible.

Stressed cat? ストレスがたまった猫？

うちの問題児（猫）、勇気ちゃんが、また、病気。今回は、なんと、自分のお乳を噛んで、傷だらけ。
獣医さんの診断はストレス。で、なんと、ストレス解消に、アロマセラピーを処方。
今、２ヶ月ほど、このアロマセラピーをしているのですが、効果抜群。見違えるほど、性格が変わって、びっくりです。前までは、恐がりで、絶対に人前には出なかったのに、今、とってもフレンドリー猫ちゃんに変身。
でも、なんで、仕事もしない、家でぐうたらしている猫が、ストレス？？
猫って、自分の臭いをそこらじゅうに付けて、自分の”領地”にしているらしいのですが、何かの理由で、臭いが付けられなくて、自分の臭いが無かったら、不安になるらしいんです。で、このアロマセラピーが、人間には臭えない、猫の臭いを家にまいているんです。それで、猫ちゃんたちが安心できるらしいんです。
本当に、ビックリでした。
Yuki, the cat got sick again! This time, he chewed on his nipple and it looked just awful.
We took him to vet and the vet told us that he was in STRESS! She prescribed him an aroma therapy!
Anyhow, it's been 2 months since the diagnose + aroma therapy and OMG, he has never been better like this, ever. His personality changed. Before he was shy and scared all the time but now he is out going and friendly. What a change!
But why?? Obviously he does not work. He is just hanging out at home all day long. Why so stress?
Well, it turns out that cat spry his "scent" all around his "territory" to get comfortable. But if the cat somehow is no longer able to put the "scent" around and he can't smell him around, he gets nervous. So this aroma therapy spry cat "scent" around for him. Therefore, he gets comfortable being here. Human can't smell this at all.
Well, this was pretty surprising to us.

大失敗！ Oops!

今日、アジアの食品があるスーパーに、キューピーマヨネーズを買いに行きました。
日本食が売っている場所に、行って見たのですが、これがなかなか見つからない！ ぐるぐると、３回も見てまだ、見つからない！
4回目にやっと見つけた！
多分、今日沢山売れたんのでしょうね〜。一番高い段の棚にあって、前列に全く無く、奥のほうにだけ、何個か残っていたんです。
あまりの嬉しさに、両手で２個とったのは、良いけど、両側にあった瓶詰めのソースに腕があたったんです！！
やばい！！
ドミノの様にその瓶詰めソースが、がたがたと動きだした！！
まじ、やばい！！ それに、周りに沢山人がいるし〜〜！
私の長い腕でなんとか、止める！！！
でも、がっちゃ〜〜〜ん！！
一つ、思いっきり落ちて、割れちゃったんです。思わず、大声で、
"I am soooooo sorry!!!!"
すぐに、ダッシュッ！で、逃げようとした所を。。。変なアメリカ人から、
"Excuse me!"
やっばい〜〜。怒られるよ〜〜っと、思っていたら、
ア：”どうやって、クランチー巻きを作るの？”
私：”はい？？？”
ア：”どうやって、あの、寿司のクランチー巻きを作るの？”
はあ。。クランチー巻き？ 知らんよ、そんなん。クランチーって、かりかりって事なんですけど、そんな寿司があるんかい？ なんで、急いで逃げている時に、こんな事を、私に聞くの？？
あ〜〜、分かった！ ここのスーパーのお客さんって、だいたい英語がしゃべれなそうな人ばかり。そこへ、私が大声で、"I am sorry!" って、言ったもんだから、この人がしゃべりかけて来たんだ。
とにかく、ここを脱出するのが、私の使命！
私：”ごめんなさい、知らないわ！ さようなら！”
さて、マヨネーズのお金をさっさと払って、スーパーを出よう！ でも、ここで、やっぱり、良心が、チクチク。
スーパーの出口で、店の人を捕まえて、
私：”すみません！ 誰かが、日本食のところで、瓶詰めソースを割ったみたいですよ。じゃ〜、さようなら〜！”
無事、脱出成功！ チャンチャン。
この話を、旦那にすると、
”君の話は、なぜか、いつも、逃げたっで、終わるよね。”
そうかしら？？ でも、瓶の分のお金を払っておけばよかったと後から後悔。大失敗でした。
ちなみに、クランチー巻きは、エビ天ぷら巻きらしいです。
I went to Asian market to buy Japanese mayonnaise today. When I got there, I went straight to Japanese section to look for one. I had a hard time finding it but eventually I found it.
It was not only located very top shelf but also there were only few left in the back. So it made it very hard to see.
I was so happy to see them and out of excitement I grabbed 2 of them using both hands. Accidentally, I hit some kind of sauce jar next to the mayonnaise. The line of jars started to crush each other. It was like seeing domino effect. Nooooo!
But thanks to my long arms, I was able to save most of them but one fell, crashed right on to the floor and spilled every where. Ohhhhh!
I just screamed, "I am soooo sorry!!!"
People just looked at me. I had sudden rush to run away so I started to walk out. Then this American guy stopped me,
"Excuse me!!"
I thought he was going to yell at me. I was so afraid.
Then he said,
"How do you make a crunchy roll?"
me: "Haa? I am sorry?"
the guy: "How do you make the sushi, crunchy roll?"
I was thinking, crunchy roll? Sushi? What is that? And why is he asking me question while I am trying to run away like a criminal? Didn't he see me breaking the jar? Wait a minute! I know! Because I said out loud, "I am sorry" and he heard me. This place looks like no one speaks English and he thought I was the only one who can speak English. Ahhhh, ok....
me: "I am sorry, I have no idea. Good luck! I've got to go. Bye!"
OK, now I can pay and get hell out of here!
Then while I was paying for the mayonnaise, I felt real bad about it and running away. So just about leaving the store, I told the store guy,
"Ah, excuse me, sir. I think SOMEONE broke the jar of sauce over at Japanese aisle. You may want to check it out. Thanks! Bye!"
Then I safely left the store and returned home.
Of course, as soon as I got home, I told my husband the whole story. He said,
"Somehow your stories always seems like ending up with 'running away' at end."
I don't know... Am I? But you know, I feel really bad about the sauce. I should have paid for it. I am SOOO sorry!
Anyhow, about the crunchy roll, it turns out be shrimp tempura roll.
